Wolves are the wild animal I am most drawn to. Is it their kinship to dogs?  Their loyalty and devotion to family? Or their elusiveness? 

Maybe it's all that and more. At any rate I find that 

when I paint a wolf the paint flies off my brush. 

I have a trip to Yellowstone planned come January and while I 

have observed and studied wolves in captivity at length, 

it is witnessing them in the wild that is my hope and dream.

I've been fond of foxes and painting them for some time. But this is the first I've done of an arctic fox. Recently I spent a long time observing and photographing a pair and I loved the pose of this one, peering upward with front paws lifted. I imagined what it might be looking at and the environment it would be in. I happened to be listening to the song "Counting Stars" by One Republic and I thought what a great title for a painting that would make...and viola! I knew what setting I would put the fox into. This is the result and I hope someone connects with it and gives it a place to shine.

DAILY PAINTING 11-24 and 25 ~ HOLIDAY MINI SALE

TWO DAYS WORTH OF OFFERINGS:

I seemed to have missed posting on my blog yesterday so to make up for it here are 2 paintings. 

First is one of the smallest of the lot, a diminutive one-of-a-kind painting of a macaw in all its crimson glory. These paintings on aluminum can be attached to many different objects to display them. In this case I stuck it onto the back panel of a handmade book a friend had given me.

 The red color set the painting off perfectly! 

The next painting I have in my holiday sale features a coyote.

For half my lifetime I played/coached volleyball competitively and 

going vertical was a term we used. Whenever I see the leaping ability of a

 coyote or fox I marvel at their agility and recall those days with fondness.

One hot simmering day in Wyoming I spent time with the ranch horses. Water of any kind I'm drawn to for it's reflective qualities and I was Johnny-on-the-spot when these two snuggled together for a refreshment.

Switching it up today with a painting of a Golden Retriever in its element.

I have painted them more than any other creature to date and 

have had at least one by my side since I was born.

Spring has arrived and 2 black bear cubs emerge from the den with mother, their first adventure into the outside world. 

The air is filled with the damp richness of a fertile world and the cubs hesitate while their mother stands as a bulwark against the unknown.

This year I am trying something new: An online sale of miniatures featuring my oils on aluminum that have become popular. I LOVE painting on this metal surface! It suits my style of brushwork and vigor. I will be posting one painting each day beginning November 15 for about 30 days. They will all be priced very well at $150 or under. These are sensational prices in my market for original artwork depicting my love of the animal kingdom. 

My goal is to get my art into the hands of people who love it!
